Finn Gehrsitz with a strong start to the season and a new partner at the Hankook 6H Abu Dhabi

Finn Gehrsitz kicked off the 2024 motorsport season in mid-January, when the up-and-coming German racing driver competed in the Hankook 6H Abu Dhabi together with two other drivers in a Porsche 911 GT3 R from the Huber Motorsport team. Only a lot of bad luck prevented a podium finish in the end.

The 2024 motorsport season began for Finn Gehrsitz shortly after the turn of the year. The 19-year-old racing driver competed in the Hankook 6H Abu Dhabi as part of the 24H Series in a Porsche 911 GT3 R from Huber Motorsport and shared the driving duties with two team-mates. Finn Gehrsitz presented a new, strong partner at his side in Infini 88.

Finn Gehrsitz is very familiar with the Porsche 911 GT3 R from last season in the ADAC GT Masters, so he immediately found his feet on the track in Abu Dhabi, which was new to him. The 19-year-old was already in the Top 3 overall in the second free practice session. In qualifying, in which the times of all three drivers are counted together, the trio finished eighth.

Finn Gehrsitz put in an impressive performance in the race. After initially holding back at the turbulent start, he started a furious race to catch up. The young racing driver managed seven overtaking manoeuvres on the Formula 1 track of the Yas Marina Circuit and was able to make up a lot of ground as a result. Shortly before the end of the race, the trio was even in second place overall and thus in a safe podium position, until a faulty refuelling system from the organiser robbed the team of the reward for their efforts. At the last pit stop, instead of fuel, only air came out of the tank nozzle for over two minutes. When the error was noticed, the race organisers neutralised the race with a long Code 60 period to repair the system. However, the additional refuelling stop required for the Huber Motorsport Porsche dashed all hopes of a top result, with the result that Finn Gehrsitz and his team-mates crossed the finish line in ninth place.

Away from the track, Finn Gehrsitz was able to present a new, strong partner in Abu Dhabi, Infini 88, who attended the race with many guests and gained priceless insights behind the scenes of motorsport from the racing driver.

Finn Gehritz: "This ending is obviously very annoying and disappointing for all of us! We had the podium in sight. To lose a top result due to such a technical glitch on the part of the organiser, which had nothing to do with either the team or the driver, is frustrating and I don't understand why. But I'm absolutely happy with my performance and the team did a great job. We also had a lot of guests at the track thanks to our new partner Infini 88, which meant we had a lot of fun alongside the racing action."
